About Backstreet Boys

The 1990s - the most beautiful years of the 20th century. Each child took care of the tamagotchi animal, drank orangade from a glass bottle and chewed Turbo gum. Teenage girls gossiped mouline bracelets and sigh into the posters of their boysband idols hanging in the rooms. One of them was the American band Backstreet Boys, which invariably continues to be a part of it to this day: AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell.

The history of the group began in April 1993, when music producer Lou Pearlman chose members for the new band. A few months later the band signed the first recording contract and in June 1995 the first song "We've Got It Goin' On" was recorded. The song didn't conquer the American market, but was in the Top 5 charts of Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and the Netherlands. The debut album "Backstreet Boys" was released on May 6, 1996. The band's popularity in Europe grew day by day. The song "I'll Never Break Your Heart" gained golden status in Germany, and the whole album quickly became platinum after selling half a million copies. Backstreet Boys have become one of the most successful debuts in the world, receiving many awards, including Viva Comet 96' in the Best Newcomers category. At the end of 1996 the band started working on their second album "Backstreet's Back", which officially appeared on August 11, 1997. The two most successful singles "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" and "As Long As You Love Me" significantly increased the dedicated crowds of fans.

Another album entitled "Millennium" was released on May 18, 1999. The album reached number 1 on the "Billboard 200" list and in the first week of its existence sold in more than a million copies. The fourth album "Black & Blue" was released on 21 November 2000. To promote its release, the band embarked on a 100-hour journey around the world, visiting Stockholm, Tokyo, Sydney, Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro and New York. On the disc there are hits such as: "Shape of My Heart", "The Call" and "More than That". After a few misfortunes in the band, a momentary parting, return and over a year's recording, on June 14th 2005 another album "Never Gone" was released, which immediately reached the third place on the American charts. On 23 June 2006 the band announced the departure of Richardson. Two days after the departure of their colleague, the band entered the studio to record their sixth album. "Unbreakable" was released on 30 October 2007. The album received positive reviews and was ranked seventh in the "Billboard 200" list. In May 2011, the group set off on a joint tour with "New Kids on the Block", forming the band "NKOTBSB".

On 29th April 2012, during one of the concerts, the group officially informed about the return of their former colleague. The first single with Richardson's vocal after his return appeared on November 5th of the same year. It was a Christmas song entitled "It's Christmas Time Again". On 20th April 2013 the Backstreet Boys celebrated their 20th anniversary. Two days later they received their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On May 14, 2018 the band announced their new single "Don't Go Breaking My Heart", released three days later, as the leading single from their new ninth album "DNA". On November 9th the second single "Chances" appeared, and at the end of January 2019 the third song "No Place" was released. The "DNA World Tour" concert, supporting the latest album, will start in May 2019.
