Def Leppard Introduction
Def Leppard formed in Sheffield UK in 1977. The band currently consists Rick Savage, Joe Elliott, Rick Allen, Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell.
They are known for their musical style which skilfully blends hard rock with pop and heavy metal, and so-called 'Arena Rock'.
They have sold over 100 million records worldwide and are famous for impressive live concerts.

History

They released their first EP in 1978 called 'The Def Leppard EP' which gained them airplay on BBC Radio 1 on the legendary John Peel show. It was another two years before they released their debut LP which was called 'On Through The Night' and this opened up the doors for them to tour the US, supporting Pat Travers, Judas Priest, Ted Nugent and AC/DC. Def Leppard also played one of the UK's leading festivals; Reading Festival.

Def Leppard went on to release another eight albums: High 'n' Dry (1981), Pyromania (1983), their best-selling album Hysteria (1987), Adrenalize (1992), Slang (1996), Euphoria (1999), X (2002), and Songs from the Sparkle Lounge (2008).

In 1984 Def Leppard won The American Music Awards' Favourite Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Artist and Favourite Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Album categories. They have also had a series of nominations for MTV Video Music Awards but did not manage to walk away with an award.

More recently the band released a live album in 2011 called 'Mirrorball' and they followed this up with a performance at the massive Download Festival in Donnington, UK. After this they toured the U.S., Australia, Japan and six shows in the UK with Steel Panther and Mötley Crüe. In 2012 Def Leppard toured the U.S. with Poison and Lita Ford on the infamous "Rock of Ages 2012 Tour". 2013 saw them play a residency called 'Viva! Hysteria' at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas where they played many songs not normally played live and their best-selling album, 'Hysteria' from start to finish.

In 2014 Def Leppard released a remastered version of their album from 1996, 'Slang', which contains 30 tracks amongst which are unreleased tracks.

2015 sees the band release another studio album which was originally planned to be an EP, surely a tour will follow.
