About
When you combine a very emotional voice with excellent guitar and percussion sounds, you will get a band that surprises his fans every time. Of course, this is the English band Muse, which, by combining alternative rock with elements of pop and electronic music, creates splendid songs reaching the top of the charts.
Members of the Muse met in the early 1990s when they attended Teignmouth Community College together. Matt Bellamy, playing guitar in another band, tried his hand at audition to Dominic Howard's band, later also becoming his vocalist and songwriter. Together they recruited Chris Wolstenholme as the second bassist and started playing under the name "Rocket Baby Dolls", assuming the image of gothic glam. In 1994, the band won their first local music competition and his members began to think seriously about their future career. Shortly after winning the group took the name "Muse" and changed their place of residence. Four years of playing together resulted not only in the first concerts in London and Manchester, but also in the release of the debut EP "Muse" on May 11, 1998. Their second EP "Muscle Museum" was released on January 11, 1999.
After many difficulties, the trio signed a record contract with "Maverick Records" and started working on their first album. "Showbiz", released in September 1999, contained songs such as: "Showbiz", "Uno", "Sunburn" or "Muscle Museum". This album expressed an aggressive and at the same time melancholic musical style of the group. While working on the next album - "Origin of Symmetry" (2001) the group decided to test new, unusual instruments such as church organ or melotron. On this album there were more arpeggiated guitars, piano playing, and most of all, large amounts of the frontmen's excellent falsetto. "Origin of Symmetry" appeared on the lists of the biggest rock albums from 2000, both on survey and publishing lists.
Muse's third album entitled "Absolution" was released on 15 September 2003 and made its immediate debut at the first place in the UK thanks to hits such as "Absolution", "Time Is Running Out", "Hysteria", "Sing for Absolution" and "Butterflies and Hurricanes". Eventually, the album received a gold certificate in the United States. The group made a one-year tour to support the album, visiting Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and France. The band won two "MTV Europe Music Awards", including the "Best Alternative Act" statuette and the "Q Awards" in the "Best Live Act" category. The trio also received the same award at the "Brit Awards 2005" gala. The year 2006 brought another album called "Black Holes and Revelations", whose main theme was science fiction. The album was ranked first in the charts in Great Britain, Europe and Australia, while in the USA it reached the ninth place in the "Billboard 200". Fans fell in love with the album for the hit "Supermassive Black Hole" and energetic "Map of the Problematique".
"The Resistance" fifth studio album was released in September 2009. He was at the top of the charts in nineteen countries and third in the "Billboard 200". The single "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)" was released on May 17, 2010, which is the main song in the soundtrack to the saga "Twilight: Eclipse". Tracklist for the next album was released on 13th July 2012, and the album itself appeared on 1st October. The album features singles "Madness", "Supremacy" and "Animals", which significantly expanded the ranks of enthusiasts of rock and electronic sound of Muse. The group announced its seventh album "Drones" on March 11, 2015. The next day, a video for the song "Psycho" appeared on Youtube channel, which could be downloaded immediately with the preorder of the album. Next tracks were "Dead Inside" and "Mercy". The whole album premiered on June 8th of the same year, and eight months later it was awarded at the 58th Grammy Awards ceremony for "Best Rock Album". On May 18, 2017 the single "Dig Down" was released, promoting the eighth album of the band. "Simulation Theory" was officially sales on 9 November 2018. The album contains lighter songs referring to the fantasy and pop culture of the 80's with a wide use of synthesizers.
The characteristic hysteria in Bellamy's voice, unbelievably lively tracks and live performances, which are great events, have become the band's showcase attracting thousands of fans from all over the world to every concert.
