Sune Rose Wagner (gitara, wokal) oraz Sharin Foo (bas, gitara, wokal) od momentu założenia The Raveonettes czerpali inspiracje z amerykańskiego rock’n’rolla rodem z lat 50. oraz popularnego w kolejnej dekadzie XX wieku w Stanach surf rocka. Muzyka duetu wychodzi jednak dalej niż wymienione wyżej wpływy, bowiem usłyszymy w niej m.in. psychodeliczne, ale też surowe gitary, pulsującą elektronikę, a wszystko to zabarwione mrocznymi tekstami śpiewanymi w harmonii składa się na unikalny styl Duńczyków. Na początku milenium, obok The White Stripes, The Hives czy The Strokes, byli częścią powrotu garażowego rocka na salony i inspirowali wiele innych kapel, w tym np. amerykańskie Best Coast, The Drums oraz Dum Dum Girls.
